Children's Ministry

First Kids

Children become disciples of Jesus Christ through a lifelong process of living and loving. Our comprehensive ministry offers opportunities for children infants through 6th grade to grow in their relationships with one another, the world, and Jesus Christ. First United Methodist places a high priority on Children's Spiritual development. We strive to shape the foundation for a lifetime of love, service, and Christian fellowship. Our curriculum offers learning experiences where children learn about the nature of God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. They also learn how to apply Christian principals to daily life.

Church Nursery: FUMC is staffed with trained nursery employees and a pager system to communicate with parents

Children's Church: Children's Church is offered to all children 3 yrs-2nd grade in both services. Children are part of the service for most of the music, and any special services such as Baptisms.

Sunday School: Sunday School is at 10:00 and offered for children 3 years old through 6th grade (all children's Sunday School classes are on the 2nd floor in the education building)

Wednesday Family Meal: During the school year family meals are served on Wednesday night from 4:45-6:00...catered by Wess Higgins of Cafe' 100 (by reservation only)

Wonderful Wednesdays : FUMC offers children's activities on Wednesday nights from 5:30-7:00 during the school year.

UMCF-United Methodist Children's Fellowship (3rd-6th grade): UMCF meets on Sunday nights at 5:00 for a snack supper in Cobble Hall followed by a Bible study. (August-June)

Confirmation Class: 6th graders at FUMC are offered a class with Pastor Ricky during the winter/spring semester. This class is a time of preparation before the service of Confirmation. Confirmation is the decision a person makes to respond to God's grace by publicly reaffirming his or her baptismal vows.
